Testimonials

Compassion hired Beth as consultant to help formulate a partnership maturity strategy. She facilitated the cross-cultural team well and gained the confidence and trust of all participants. Because of her skills we finished the process in time and produced a well articulated maturity model. Beth was willing to put in extra work to make the sure the project was completed after the actual workshop finished. I highly recommend her as a consultant, her understanding of partnerships in the non-profit sector is a great asset to any organization.
— Wolf Riedner, Global Program Director, OneChild

I was impressed by the collaboration of Dr. Beth Birmingham and Eeva Sallinen Simard in creating and implementing World Relief’s Leadership Forum in 2013 - 2015. They did an exemplary job working with emerging leaders from across divisions to create a cohesive and thorough learning experience. From our country offices in Africa, to our US field offices, we saw success stories of Leadership Forum alumnus taking on more responsibility and leadership roles in the organization. Beth and Eeva are a joy to work with and I recommend them without hesitation.
— Barry Howard, CFAO, New America (formerly CFO World Relief)

Beginning in 2010, Beth joined the Women Build program of Habitat for Humanity to design a research project to study the impact of homeownership on single female head of households. The scope of the research included four national projects which revolve around women and housing. These projects include: a Roma housing project in Macedonia, low-income loans to women in Mexico, micro-finance in Tanzania, and sanitation and home improvement for elderly women in Vietnam. On completion of the research phase, presented her initial findings at a Women Build sponsored symposium on International Women’s Day. Women Build and Habitat for Humanity have greatly benefitted from Dr. Birmingham’s expertise and work on this research project. The findings from her research will be used by the Women Build program to develop its strategy for engaging Habitat’s national programs to better serve women head of household.
— Lisa Marie Nickelson, Associate Director of Women Build, Habitat for Humanity International

Eeva has excellent skills in project management. She is able to break down large and potentially overwhelming projects into specific tasks, to set timelines and to organize the inputs from various sources to ensure the job is done ... she was able to communicate with and motivate our global colleagues, building their capacity, while maintaining respect and personal engagement. She’s an excellent communicator with audiences ranging from our donors through other Johns Hopkins faculty to our counterparts in African countries.”
— Dr. Jennifer Bryce, Senior Scientist, Institute for International Programs, Johns Hopkins University

Dr. Beth and Eeva were instrumental in designing and facilitating World Relief’s Global Leadership Forum. Following our 2014 Leadership Forum , the World Relief Malawi team has improved in its servant leadership, team cohesion, conflict management, and integrating Christian faith in daily walk and ministry. I have been inspired in my current ministry as the Malawi team leader, thanks to their contribution towards our country leadership development program.
— Gibson Nkanaunena, Country Director, World Relief Malawi

“Eeva Sallinen Simard and Beth Birmingham bring decades of experience with development NGOs to the table. Their expertise crosses across the sectors of leadership development, team building, crafting strategic policies, goal-setting, monitoring and evaluation. In the field of gender and development, both have been critically involved in helping development NGOs examine their own policies and move forward. They not only have a strong and creative vision to help NGOs accomplish their goals, but they have a broad strategic toolkit to facilitate that process within a wide range of NGOs.
— Dr. Amy reynolds, associate professor of sociology, wheaton college

Beth did an evaluation of our national organisation during a change process in which we were aligning our structure to a new strategy. She brought together an expert knowledge in organizational development with a strong intuition in how teams and people work together effectively. Her recommendations were well conceived and useful to the organization’s decision-making
— Donne Cameron, formerly National Director Habitat for Humanity South Africa
